My initial research focused on greenhouses, architecture in light and artificial space. The hothouse refers to both the controlled environment of the contemporary city and the natural landscape that resides within the city. Enclosed within the city's confines, trees and plants become objects of veneration, completely disconnected from the real world. The hothouse allows me to explore the landscape I progressively create and to move from figurative reality into a virtual world. Hothouses are a synthesis of two extremes: on one hand, the image of a tree and its foliage for the Baroque period and, on the other, the metal and glass architectural structure of the Classical age. The entire history of forms is a see-saw movement between Baroque and Classical.
