Sur-Natures 2005 - Paris, France
Supra-Natura is a lush digital garden which is conceived as a symbiosis of urban design and architecture. The work was premiered at the Buenos Aires International Festival in an outdoor projection on the façade of the Alliance Française building. It was subsequently shown at Galerie Suzanne Tarasiève as part of the Nuit Blanche Festival in Paris.
Eight plant varieties grow in this virtual garden. The luminescent, scalar flora evolves according to random trajectories, sprouting, budding and blossoming in cycles defined by their unique morphogenetic characteristics. Motion sensors allow viewers to influence the growth of the garden’s plants. As viewers interact with the artwork, the plants incline to the left or right, creating a scene which alternates between baroque strapwork and a stylized organic ballet.
